I moved out to Prince George

I’ve had to rely on something more reliable too since I moved out to Prince George last year. For the first few months, every time I needed a plumber or a snow removal service, I ended up either overpaying or getting ghosted. It was frustrating because the businesses that did show up often had zero online presence or were buried under piles of fake review pages. That’s when I stumbled onto a business directory bc that didn’t feel like it was built for tourists or bots. Just clean listings with actual local relevance, and the best part was that it didn’t overwhelm me with options I didn’t need. This is the one I’ve stuck with ever since: https://www.britishcolumbialocal.ca/. It’s not flashy, but it works. I’ve used it to find a reliable appliance repair guy, a notary when I sold my car, and even a local sourdough bakery that wasn’t on any of the big apps. It helps that the categories are easy to browse, and you can actually tell which towns or areas people serve. I wish more regions had something like this because it just makes sense. Real people, real services, and no nonsense in between.

It always surprises me how much difference timing makes when you’re looking for help. One hour too early, nothing’s open. One hour too late, the guy you needed is already booked for the week. There’s a weird rhythm to these things you only notice after living somewhere for a while.
